Black Pop Surrealiosm
Curated by Jenn Hampton (Parlor Gallery)
Reception: Sun., March 29; 3-6pm.
An outgrowth of the 60's pop culture, Pop Surrealism draws from such iconic messengers as the Zap Comix Collective with Robert Williams, R. Crumb, and Gilbert Shelton, as well as the California car culture maestro “Big Daddy” Ed Roth. It blends Pop and “low brow” art with the psychological and sometime visceral edge of surrealism. In this show Jenn is exploring the darker side of this current movement.

NeoRococo Show
Curated by Douglas Ferrari.
Reception: Sunday, Sept. 13th, 3-6pm.
Rococo
was an 18 th century style characterized by intricate ornamentation; free and graceful movement s; a playful use of line ; and delicate colors , and portrayed the care-free life of the aristocracy. Many artists today seem to be exploring similar visual elements. Is this merely coincidental? Are they deliberately exploring Rococo artistic styles? Are they inadvertently embracing today's aristocracy? These questions are what this exhibition will investigate and hopefully answer. Those artists being asked to participate are James Barsness, Laura Bell, Nancy Blum, John Bowman , Tiffany Calvert, Linda Ganjian , Julie Heffernan, Susan Homer , Judith Hudson , Jill Kerwick , Isabella Kirkland , Katherine Kuharic , Claire McConaughy , Margaret Murphy, Susanna Starr, and Kehinde Wiley.
